About SINTAN IP
SINTAN IP focuses on the structural knowledge exchange between Dutch and Tanzanian hospitals and health centres. It has the aim to cooperate with others here and in Tanzania to contribute in an inclusive way to a sustainable development of Tanzania.
We are in particular active in health care. Amongst others we organised in conjunction with the Medical Centres of the Universities of Groningen and Rotterdam (Erasmus) and several Tanzanian hospitals internships for students in medicine and dental care in –remote- district hospitals in Tanzania. Public Health Care plays an increasingly large role in this arrangement. Every year of the last couple of years about 50 to 60 students went to Tanzania.
Internships
As of June 2014 we transferred the facilitation of internships to the Medical Centers themselves. SINTAN IP is now more and more involved in the implementation of small scale projects in hospitals in Tanzania, like the realisation of neo-natal department in Same Hospital and the overhaul of a hospital vehicle for Mvumi Hospital.
Hostel
Next to the above projects in health care we organised fund raising campaigns to enable the construction of a dormitory hostel for Maasai girls in Nyumba ya Mungu in Northern Tanzania. With the donations of many and the assistance of Wilde Ganzen this hostel was completed and also provided with necessary furniture like beds and matrasses.
